Inbound Exchange Student Program (International)

申請條件 / Eligibility Requirements
    1. Institutional Eligibility
      The Exchange Student Program is open exclusively to students currently enrolled at a partner institution with which Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) has a formal student exchange agreement. Applicants must be officially nominated by the International Office or other designated office of their home university and must meet Academic and Language Proficiency Requirements listed below.

    (Students from non-partner institutions may also inquire about exchange opportunities available through CYCU’s participation in ACUCA and UMAP.)

    1. Academic Requirement
      Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
    2. Language Proficiency Requirement
    • TOEFL iBT: 64 or above, IELTS: 5.0 or above, TOEIC: 700 or above, Other officially recognized language proficiency tests equivalent to CEFR B1
    • HSK Level 4 or above may be accepted in place of an English proficiency test.
    • Applicants who do not have an official language proficiency test score may submit a certificate or official letter issued by their home university confirming that their English or Chinese language proficiency is sufficient for participation in the exchange program.
    • Applicants who are nationals of English-speaking countries are not required to submit an official English language proficiency test score.

交換期限可為一學期或兩學期。
The exchange period can be one semester or one academic year (=2 semesters).

  • English-Taught Courses: To search for courses taught entirely in English, please select (1) your actual exchange semester and (2) “EMI Course” when using the course search system.
  • Course offerings for each semester are normally announced online approximately one month before the beginning of the semester. Before the course listings for the upcoming semester are available, students may refer to the course offerings from the previous academic year for reference. While course offerings may vary from year to year, approximately 80–90% of the courses are expected to remain similar.
  • Exchange students may enroll in courses offered by different academic departments or colleges during their exchange period. However, courses offered under Dual Degree Programs are not available to exchange students.
  • The course instructor reserves the right to determine whether an exchange student is eligible to enroll in a particular course. Such decisions may be based on factors including class size, the student’s language proficiency, academic background, and level of study.

Will participate in CYCU’s on-campus health examination along with local students.

With a Resident Visa, students must apply for the ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) within 15 days after entering Taiwan. You can submit your ARC application in one of the following ways. In person at the National Immigration Agency office in Taoyuan, or Online via the official portal:

Students participating in the exchange program are required to purchase their own insurance in their home country before traveling to Taiwan. We strongly recommend purchasing insurance in your home country, as it generally offers more complete coverage and better language support. Proof of insurance must be provided in either Chinese or English and must be valid for the entire duration of the exchange period. The insurance must ensure sufficient coverage for both medical and accident-related expenses. As a reference, the following minimum coverage amounts are recommended:

– Accident insurance: at least TWD 1,000,000

– Medical insurance: at least TWD 1,000,000

Re-Cheng Dorm (4 people per room)：NT$ 16,500 / per person/ per semester.
