Application process for general short-term internships or research (non-government programs)
Non-governmental projects refer to general short-term self-funded internships or research, excluding the Ministry of Education’s TEEP (Taiwan Experience Education Program) or the National Science Council’s IIPP (International Internship Pilot Program)

| Notes Before Application:1. The application should be submitted to CYCU OIA by the professor/department 2-3 months before the start of the internship/research.2. An internship/research fee of NTD 10,000 is applicable, subject to the professor’s discretion for collection. This fee includes both the professor’s guidance fee and the department’s administrative fee.(Students from Mapúa University and the University of Santo Tomas are exempt from the fee.)3. | Stage One-Departmental ReviewSubmit your application directly to the CYCU professor, who will subsequently forward it to the Office of International Affairs (OIA). | Required Documents:(Please merge all the files and convert them into a PDF document.)1. Internship Plan * Setting out in detail exactly what the intended Internship will consist of and how this is related to requirements of the program they are enrolled in or for their graduation; the place; beginning and end dates; the Internship supervisor; Internship expenses; and the amount of any scholarship/financial aid or living allowance received by the Internship applicant.→Graduate and doctoral students do not need to submit item 3. 4. Photocopy of Passport & student ID card *If the student ID does not indicate the department and grade, please provide proof of enrollment. 5. You need to provide your home university’s enrollment certification and evidence that your internship plan is a requirement for your enrolled program or graduation.(Example1) (Example2)* According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, this proof must record (1) the date when the student’s internship in Taiwan starts and ends (2) the internship is part of the student’s graduation or course condition.→Graduate and doctoral students do not need to submit item 5. 6. | Stage Two-Government ReviewThe department is responsible for furnishing students with both an MOE (Ministry of Education) Permit and an admission/invitation letter issued by the relevant college.For example, a student applying for an internship in the Department of Chemical Engineering should receive an admission/invitation letter issued by the College of Engineering.*Students exempt from visa application are not required to obtain an MOE permit. | |
| Stage Three-Preparation for coming to Taiwan1. Apply for your visa2. Kindly ask your professor or department staff to assist you in reserving a dormitory bed, subject to availability. In the event that dormitory beds are not accessible, they can also aid you in locating off-campus accommodation. | Please submit the following information to your professor or the department 15 days before you arrive in Taiwan: (Please merge all the files and convert them into a PDF document.)1. | Arriving Taiwan | To DO:1. Check in your dormitory or apartment.2. Short-term interns/researchers students are required to report to the International Affairs Office within one week of arriving in Taiwan. (Please visit Dickson Lee Hall 701B Room for Ms. Tsai.)3. Note your visa expiration date. 15 days before your visa expires, visit the Office of International and Cross-Strait Education to obtain a required supporting document for your Visa extension. Afterward, go to the National Immigration Agency (Taoyuan Service Center) to complete your visa extension process. |
