Qualification
1. Student Status:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students at an overseas university, actively pursuing a formal degree.
- Your home university must be included in the reference list issued by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C. You can find the reference list on this link. Please ensure that your university is listed.
- Students who already graduated from the university are not eligible to apply.
2. Citizenship:
- Applicants must hold a foreign nationality. Taiwanese nationals are not eligible to apply.

3. Purpose of Visit:
- Please consider the following purposes of the visit based on your academic level:
- [Undergraduate Level]: Applicants at the undergraduate level should be those who are required to fulfill internship obligations to meet their graduation requirements.
- [Graduate Level]: Applicants at the graduate level should fall into one of the following categories:
- A. Those who are required to complete an internship as part of their graduation requirements.
- B. Those who are interested in conducting short-term research in Taiwan as a means to contribute to their thesis writing.
Program Duration
During your internship or research period in Taiwan, the duration can range from a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of 180 days.
You can use an online date calculator to confirm whether your stay in Taiwan exceeds the 180-day limit.
If your internship or research project is expected to exceed 180 days, please submit a new application after the current program ends.
Additionally, you must exit Taiwan before your current visa expires. After leaving the country, you can apply for a new visa, and once it’s obtained, you can return to Taiwan to continue your program.
Internship/research Expenses
- Internship/Research Fees:
For a 6-month program, the total fee is 10,000 New Taiwan Dollars (NTD).
This fee consists of a 6,000 NTD guidance fee for the advisor and a 4,000 NTD administrative fee for the department.
Whether the Internship/Research program fee is charged or not depends on the supervising professor’s decision.
However, Mapua University and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) from the Philippines do not charge any internship/research fees.
- Living Expenses:
Students are kindly advised to bear their own living expenses, which encompass accommodation, meals, and airfare.
