Important Information for International Degree Students: ARC and NHI Regulations

When you graduate from, take a leave of absence from, or withdraw from Chung Yuan Christian University (hereinafter referred to as “CYCU”), your student status will be terminated. Accordingly, your Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) issued for the purpose of study will become invalid, and your eligibility for National Health Insurance (NHI) coverage may also be affected.

1. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

• If you graduate, take a leave of absence, or withdraw from CYCU, and your ARC was issued based on your enrollment at CYCU, your ARC will become invalid 10 days later.
• If you plan to remain in Taiwan after graduation, you must apply to the National Immigration Agency (NIA) to change the purpose of your residence by presenting your diploma.
• If you plan to leave Taiwan after graduation, taking a leave of absence, or withdrawal, you must return your ARC to the NIA before departure. If you wish to enter Taiwan again in the future, you will need to apply for a new visa.

2. National Health Insurance (NHI)

• Your NHI coverage through CYCU will terminate upon graduation, leave of absence, or withdrawal.
• If you extend your ARC using your diploma after graduation, you must personally visit the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) to enroll in NHI and pay the required premiums.
• If you become employed in Taiwan or enroll at another higher education institution, your NHI coverage must be transferred to your new employer or school.
• Once your ARC becomes invalid, your NHI eligibility will also terminate. To re-enroll in NHI in the future, you must hold a valid ARC and have resided continuously in Taiwan for at least six months.

3. Scholarship

• Your scholarship eligibility will terminate at the end of the month in which you complete the graduation, leave of absence, or withdrawal procedures.
